Drapery was a big deal in Renaissance and Baroque art academies.  According to James Elkins in his book Why Art Cannot Be Taught, students were asked to draw drapery twice a week as part of their studies.  This kind of discipline and practice led to many beautiful drawings.

Their perseverance coupled with clear results is inspiring.
